　　《悲惨世界》是在纪念法国著名作家雨果诞辰210周年暨《悲惨世界》出版150周年之际，由汤姆·霍伯执导的一部电影。

　　文学作品改编成电影，往往争议不断。有人说，越是二三流的文学作品越容易改成一流的电影，而一流的文学作品往往就难以造就经典电影。这其中的一个重要原因自然是因为一流的文学作品往往因其深入人心，拍成电影后难以符合每个人的标准，也就造成了争议不断的局面。作为文学史上的不朽巨著，《悲惨世界》已19次被拍成电影，但没有一部是真正获得广泛认可。除电影之外，《悲惨世界》以音乐剧的形式也得到了广泛的传播。1980年，法国音乐剧作曲家首先创作了《悲惨世界》的音乐剧版本，5年后英文版本诞生，引发巨大轰动，迄今依旧是长演不衰。
